Fairwood Park golf club are delighted to announce the appointment of Llewelyn Miller to their team.
The PGA qualified golf professional will join existing club pros Mike Hobbs and Gethin Collins and will be responsible for developing the clubs rapidly expanding academy section.
“I’m thrilled to join Fairwood,” said 27-year-old Llewelyn. “Not only is it one of the finest courses in the region, but after listening to the ambitious plans for the club, I’m excited to be part of the team that makes them happen.”
With a remit that includes developing future talent, Llewelyn is one of the key appointments that owner Rhodri Evans wanted to make, as he explained.
“When we sat down to outline the vision for the club’s future, alongside exciting developments such as new facilities, upgrades to the course and new equipment, we also wanted to invest in future members.”
Not only was this to introduce more youngsters to the sport, but it was also a means by which the club could spot and develop talent at an early age and help develop the skills of future champions.
“To give the junior cohort the best chance of success, we decided to start an academy section and Llewelyn, who has experience of a similar role at another local club, was the ideal choice,” explained Rhodri
With a raft of taster sessions in place to help children of all ages pick up a golf club for the first time, the academy has already seen a huge demand for spaces.
“We’ve had a massive interest in the academy since launching and have dates scheduled throughout the Summer for kids of all abilities to come along and get involved,” said Llewelyn.
The section is also developing young golfers who have previous playing experience and parents are already commenting on the rapid improvements since moving their sons and daughters to Fairwood.
“Ultimately, younger players are the future of our club,” said Rhodri, “so the earlier they join, the more they can feel part of the Fairwood family and not only enjoy the sport, but perhaps we can produce a future PGA Champion”
