Golf in Swansea

For a country that’s even smaller than Belgium, Wales certainly punches well above its weight when it comes to all matters golfing.  That’s because golf in Wales is ‘golf as it should be’ - unhurried, unhindered, and excellent value for money.

Fairwood 16th

There’s no question that golf in Wales and South Wales in particular has experienced a massive boost over the last few years.  Back in 2006, Welshman Ian Woosenam captained the Ryder Cup team to a memorable victory over the USA at the K Club in Ireland.
And of course in October 2010 the Ryder Cup itself was played out at the Celtic Manor in Newport in a thrilling finale that saw Graeme McDowell hold his nerve on the 17th to deliver a famous European win by 14.5 - 13.5 points.

There is no doubt that the international coverage and exposure from the 2010 Ryder Cup sharply focused the eyes of the golf world onto Wales as more and more people discovered the Principality’s vast array of golf courses, which compare extremely favourably to our Celtic cousins, Scotland and Ireland, in terms of both price and quality.  The efforts of Celtic Manor owner, Sir Terry Matthews, in securing global television’s third largest sporting event allowed Wales to showcase ourselves in a one off way.

Visitors to our small country often note the same characteristics that makes Wales a unique destination experience - the warmest of welcomes, the stunning natural beauty, and the remarkable choice of golf courses to play.  A visit to Fairwood Park comes with the promise of all these things, for one can find no less than 8 golf courses within a ten mile radius of the Club, and we will be more than happy to assist you in planning your golfing trip regardless of the size of your group or the length of your stay to play golf in Swansea.
